Apple Increases iPhone 3GS Production by 20%

Foxconn has reportedly received increased orders for manufacturing the iPhone 3Gs in Q4 to meet the ever growing demand. The increase in order is said to be roughly 17% to 20%. Even OmniVision (which manufacturers sensors for the iPhone) has reportedly informed its customers that there would be supply constraints in order to meet Apple’s increased demands.

This shouldn’t really be a big scoop as it is being portrayed as. Holiday season is right up ahead and the 3GS is already delayed in several countries due to stock shortage. So Apple increasing the supply for the device by 20% is just natural.
Still… In these times of global recessions it’s great news for Apple that people still have money to churn out for those high end smartphones.
