We heard rumors that Google is also planning to sell its Google Phone / Nexus One in the same month (January 2010). This phone will be an Unlocked phone – which can be used with any service provider with GSM technology.

Here are the plan details:

  • The iPhone 3G will be priced at £59 on a £30 24-month contract with 300 minutes and unlimited texts, or free on a £35 24-month contract with 600 minutes and unlimited texts.
  • The 3G S 16GB version is free on a £45 24-month contract with 1,200 minutes and unlimited texts.
  • All contracts come with 1GB of data.

Customers who are interested can Pre-Order the handset on Vodafone from today (December 21, 2009). Customers who have already pre-registered their interest will automatically receive free on-net calls for the duration of the contract.

Guy Laurence, chief executive of Vodafone UK, said that the “company had been preparing its network for over a year to handle the introduction of the iPhone.”

There are concerns that mobile networks globally are struggling to cope with demand as more consumers choose internet-enabled smartphones and mobile dongles over fixed broadband deals.

Vodafone has also introduced a charge for customers wishing to use their iPhones as a modem – starting at £5 to download 500 MB.
