Finally Voip Free Calls for iPhone via Fring are allowed over 3G network, It is really more exciting news for all iPhone users as Apple has lifted the ban on VoIP over the AT&T 3G network. So now you can make free calls from your iPhone!

To make free voice or video calls using Fring, you simply need to fire up your Fring iPhone app and hope that the message “voip calls are not allowed” does not appear anymore. If it does, just click “more”, then “go offline” and then open Fring again.

Meanwhile, Fring was not the first iPhone app developer who immediately took advantage of iPhone’s decision to allow VoIP calls on the iPhone. A few days ago, iCall also went live, allowing free VoIP calls for iPhone users through 3G.

Both Fring and iCall if embraced by mobile phone users would definitely make the VoIP through 3G market more exciting. Expect more mobile apps that will allow VoIP through 3G to be developed and hope that mobile carriers will not disallow this feature even if it affects part of their revenues

Kayak, a travel search site has earlier released an iPhone App which lets you search for flights and hotels from their iPhone or iPod Touch. Now an updated version (2.0.1) which has been tested on iPhone OS 3.0 has been released in the App Store.

Kayak for iPhone has an easy to use interface with large icons. The main window gives quick access to Flights, Hotels, Cars, Trips, Buzz (the current hot deals), Preferences etc. You can enter your Kayak login information in the Preferences section and also set your currency for ticket prices and deals.

This free iPhone app from Kayak is a trimmed version of their service, not including the Deals, Vacations or Cruises sections that can be found on Kayak’s website.

Last month, we had posted about the MultiFlow app which enables tabbed multitasking on iPhone. We thoroughly enjoyed the app but wished that there was a smoother alternative. Thankfully, ProSwitcher is out which takes multi-tasking on iPhone altogether to a different level.

Here are some of the features of the app:

* It uses backgrounder in the backend. So, it acts more like a graphical extension to backgrounder.
* It has a beautiful interface and comes very close to palm pre’s design.
* If you want to close an app in the background, all you have to do is vertically swipe over it’s preview pane!
* In the preview mode, the background turns dark so that the preview panes are clearly visible.

Look at the video demo below:

If you love classical music and got $0.99 to spare after buying all your Christmas presents, you might want to pick up this application whose price has been divided a thousand !!!

Indeed, Classical Music Master Collection was until two days ago priced at $999 on the Appstore.

The application is a hefty 1.7 Gb download and contains no fewer than 800 classic masterpieces, categorized and commented by artist. Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Dvorak, Mozart, Bach, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi and many more … a real treat for fans!

The quality of songs is ok and the application contains no advertising. So you want to enjoy it now because we don’t know if it’s this price drop ( or error?) will last long.

Be aware, however, that exporting the music collection to iTunes is impossible. You will have to play the tunes through the application itself.

FEATURES:

800 full tracks of the classical music performance from the best orchestras and ensembles around the world.

No commercials in between music.

Quick link to Wikipedia search on the composer.

iTunes Music Store search for other performances of the same piece.

COMING SOON:

More music!

Search

Mozilla has claimed that it feels its upcoming mobile version of its popular Firefox web browser, named, appropriately enough, Firefox Mobile, could well usher in the beginning of the end for shops like Apple’s App Store and Google’s Android Market.

According to a report from PC Pro, Mozilla’s own vice president of mobile, the oft quoted Jay Sullivan, is of the opinion that working with Firefox Mobile and developing what amount to “apps” but simply making them web-based instead will be the future. Indeed, if you’re going by what Sullivan has to say, then markets like the App Store won’t be around long. In his own words,

“Anyone who knows JavaScript and HTML can develop a great app without having to learn a specific mobile platform … As developers get more drustrated with quality assurance, the amount of hardsets they have to buy, whether their security updates will get past the iPhone approval process… I think they’ll move to the web.”

It’s certainly an interesting proposition to say that models like the Android Market and the App Store are transient things, especially considering the situation that Apple has found itself in with that in the past. Indeed, Steve Jobs himself admitted that he’d underestimated the potential of both the device itself (both the iPhone and the iPod Touch) and applications on the device.

The reason there’s an app store at all now is because when Apple initially launched their various app capable devices (then not nearly as app friendly as they are now) they’d said that web-based applications would be enough. Yet here we are, years down the line, with apps mounting up and successful developers making healthy sums on the market.

We’ll be curious to see if Mozilla’s portable release has the impact it’s hoping for, but for now we only have on question… if Mozilla does manage to overthrow the App Store and other models like it, how will people download Firefox Mobile?

It is not a secret that there is no video recording app for iPhone 2G and 3G in iPhone App Store, unless you jailbreak your iPhone and install CyCorder from Cydia. And that’s what most users who purchase iPhone from grey market did with their iPhone. You know it’s kinda odd that phone with camera cannot record the video, right?

But good news gentlemen, because video recording app at is now available ‘officially’ at App Store with the release of iVideoCamera, although you have to fork out 99 cent to install it into your phone. It have received fairly criticism from blog-sphere particularly due to its poor video quality, low resolution and low frame rate per second. Nevertheless, it’s better to have it than never, if you’re not willing to jailbreak your iPhone.

Bonus point as stated in the app description, you can save and share your photos via social media website such as Facebook, Youtube and etc. Head to App Store from iPhone to install it.

Can you imagine seeing US soldiers marching into battle toating there iPhone? it is hard to even comprehend such a venture but US defense contractor Raytheon has just released a range of iPhone software applications that it claims will turn iPhones or iPod touches into war machines.

The picture begins to come into focus and make sense as you read what the application will do for soldiers. The app is called One Force Tracker (OFT). The software lets soldiers track whereabouts of allies and adversaries on maps in real time. The system is based on military messaging standard that provide multimedia access, audio and textual point of interest, free text messaging, collaborative planning, spot reports and emergency call s for artillery fire.

As you can see the app is actually well thought out and would be a nice addition to military personnel. Having real time maps with ally and enemy locations could save lives and enable better strategy from field operators.

The military would obviously have to have standard issue shock resistant cases as the iPhone is not known for it durability under duress. At the end of the day the size and capabilities of the iPhone make it an obvious choice for military use.

This news will make many happy I am sure since honestly many could have cared less about any Great White North exposure in the 1st place. Hopefully this will become a global trend as this says a lot about how much money we fork out sometimes unwillingly on international maps. I think this is a wise move as they will soon have to deal with major players like Google offering their GPS Navigation for free.
